TESTING AND EVALUATION
SCHEME OF ASSESSMENT
The examination system has two components – Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA) and End Semester Examinations (ESE). CIA is conducted periodically to monitor the progress of the students during the course of the semester and ESE at the end of the semester after the Completion of 90 working days. The maximum mark allotted for CIA and ESE is 30 & 70 (for UG) and 40 & 60 (for PG) respectively.

(1) Continuous internal assessment (Theory)
(a) CIA TEST
In every semester, two centralized CIA tests are conducted for each paper. The first test is conducted in the middle of each semester covering 50% of the syllabus and the second test at the end of the semester covering the remaining portion of the syllabus. The average of two test marks is converted to 20 marks or in accordance with the maximum marks allotted.

(b) Assignment / Seminar / Quiz
One Assignment / Seminar for each paper must be submitted / presented by a student and a Quiz must be conducted in each semester. The marks allotted to this component will be awarded based on the performance of the candidate.
 
(c) Attendance
Every student should earn a minimum attendance of 75% to become eligible to write End Semester examinations. The 5 marks allotted to this component will be awarded as given here under.

(2) Continuous internal assessment (Practical)
CIA marks for practical will be awarded based on the performance of students in CIA practical test, observation notebook and attendance.
 
(a) CIA Practical Test
For each practical, students should write one model practical test for, External maximum marks of the practical. Marks obtained in the test will be appropriately converted into marks allotted for the test component of CIA of the practical.
 
(b) Observation Notebook & Regularity
Marks allotted for record / observation notebook will be awarded based on the presentation of the procedure, results of the practical done during every practical class and punctuality in the submission of observation notebook.

END SEMESTER EXAMINATIONS (ESE)
Two End Semester Examinations are conducted in a year (in Nov/Dec and in April/May). ESE will be conducted after the completion of 90 working days. The duration of the examination is 3 hours for Part I, Part II, Part III and Part IV papers. Online examination is conducted for Environmental Studies.
     Minimum mark to pass each paper for UG Programme is 40% in ESE and 40% in aggregate in CIA + ESE. Minimum mark to pass each paper for PG programme is 50% in ESE and 50% in the detailed dates of exam will be announced by Controller of Examinations (COE), 20 days in advance.
     The ESE will be conducted for the Add on courses in December / June every year.
 
REAPPEARANCE FOR ARREAR SUBJECTS
     Students who fail in the End Semester examinations can write their arrear papers in the following semesters.
